Eben Etzebeth is known as one of the hardest men in world rugby. Off the pitch, he’s a great guy, but you do not want to be in his way when he has a rugby ball tucked under his arm.
Etzebeth has been in excellent form playing for Toulon in the French Top 14 and has been one of their top players in the season so far. He has basically just continued on where he left off after a good World Cup and shown that he has some engine.
This weekend he took things to the next level by charging through half of Brive’s team to score a try like a bull in a china shop.
Eben Etzebeth has been a great signing for Toulon, following in the footsteps of the great Bakkies Botha who also enjoyed many good seasons for Toulon towards the end of his storied career. Eben Etzebeth’s salary, however, is much more than Botha’s ever was. In fact, it’s the highest for and South African player, period!
Elsewhere in the Top 14, fellow World Cup winner Cheslin Kolbe is making headlines at Toulouse.
